Charles T. Capute Joins MDSW Bolstering Estates and Trusts Practice

McAllister, DeTar, Showalter & Walker LLC (MDSW) is pleased to announce that Charles (Charlie) T. Capute has joined the firm as of counsel, effective immediately. Charlie is one of Maryland’s preeminent estates and trusts attorneys and has enjoyed a lengthy career advising clients throughout the region.

Charlie has focused his career on working collaboratively with businesses and individuals to develop comprehensive, tax-efficient estate and succession plans. He has a thriving  estates and trust administration practice, which MDSW and Charlie expect to grow and support.

“One of our objectives at MDSW is to expand our depth in Estates and Trusts to better serve existing clients and to accommodate business and residential growth opportunities in communities in which we practice. We are fortunate to partner with such a prominent and experienced member of the bar. Charlie has been a friend, colleague and referral source to many of the lawyers at MDSW, and the addition of Charlie and his exceptional paralegal staff is a perfect fit for this firm”, said Douglas Walker, Managing Partner of MDSW.  “There are many direct and indirect synergies between Charlie’s clients and existing firm relationships, and Charlie will be an important resource as he continues to provide the sophisticated estate and tax planning advice for which he is justly respected. MDSW is pleased that Charlie has chosen to entrust his clients with our Firm, and we are equally excited about the opportunity to work together to grow and support Charlie’s robust practice.”

“I am really excited by the prospect of partnering with MDSW”, said Charlie Capute.  “My clients deserve the support they can provide to my practice and across many important legal disciplines. I have known some of these folks for many years and have long  admired their expertise in various practice areas, their work ethic and their personalities. My team and I look forward with enthusiasm to 2022 and beyond.”

Charlie served as trust counsel to Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh before moving to Easton and becoming a partner at Miles & Stockbridge. He has had his own practice, with concentration in estate and trust planning and administration, since 2002. He has been actively involved with many regional non-profits, including the Easton Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Salisbury University Foundation, the Academy Art Museum and the Gunston School, and served as chair of each of those organizations. He currently sits on the board of University of Maryland Shore Regional Health.
